In the mid 1980’s when the pioneers of snowboarding first glided across the pistes, they did so here in the quaint Swiss mountain village of Flims Laax. Fast-forward 40 years and this freestyle capital of Europe is home to the world’s largest half pipe, a pro kicker line in Olympic size, and a total of more than 90 obstacles spread over five snow parks - Europe’s largest. Needless to say it’s a mecca for all things adventure and outdoors.
If you are thinking a park like this is only for the pros then think again. In the freestyle park for beginners you can ease your way into the snowpark scene and improve your snowboard and freeski skills on boxes, rails and tables.
Fancy taking your skills to the next level? Then Ils Plauns snowpark is the place. Offering a host of rails, boxes and various kicker lines try new tricks, push your limits and perfect your style!
More of a pro? Then do what the locals do and head to the snow park P60 to "P60 all day!" Needless to say it's easy to spend the entire day here! Explore its vast range of rails, boxes, slides, pyramid walls and industry pipes – all in a single run. On a slope length of no less than 1,000 metres, you will also find the kicker pro-line with four Olympic-size kickers.
Want to make your jumps even more spectacular? Then get ready to tame the halfpipe at the snowpark, affectionately known as "The Beast". This legendary park is home to the largest superpipe in Europe with a length of 200 metres, a width of 22 metres and a world record height of 6.9 metres. There is also a mini-pipe for those looking to make their first jumps!
If you like to shred in the snow park and are also a freeride enthusiast, the Free60 is just right for you. Combining the best of both worlds, freestyle and powder, Free60 is not groomed like a common park, but left in its natural state.
Want to film your ride through the halfpipe? In both ‘The Beast’, and the mini pipe in the same snowpark you can register, scan your ski pass and have your ride through the halfpipe recorded via 5G video installation. Your personal video will be sent directly to your mobile phone for you to watch with your family and friends!
